Pre-Trip Introduction

Hi Everybody! Welcome to our family blog. Bethany says it's de riguer for us Ulrich's to create a blog while we are on vacation. We shall see if it is too much for us older generations to get a handle on. But, you never know. Maybe our trip will be relaxing enough that we will find time to write about our experiences.

SO, it all started about 3 or 4 years ago when Joan said she wanted to go to Vietnam. And Jerry said I do too! Judy was more reluctant, but didn't want to miss out on any action. And John, well, the timing wasn't right for his job. Last January we tossed the idea around again and the only time of year that Joan could get away from work was December. By March we talked about it again and double-checked that we could all do it. We could. It was a plan! (yeah! - a decision got made!)

Judy started checking all the Vietnam guidebooks out of the library...all summer. Trying to get a grip on what to do, what there was to do, and what did we want to do? All along taking notes on scraps of paper. Come September or October we finally made some air reservations - that was a huge commitment!!!
